
István Horkay

Freelance graphic artist, poster designer, animator and filmmaker has a great significance in Hungarian cultural life and his international fame as a designer is also well-known. He works in an extremely conscious way, for him, to be up-to-date and to be modern mean the constant analysis and courageous innovations of the thematic and formal elements, and also the consequent avoidance of the usage of common places.
After graduating from the School of Fine Arts in Budapest, he was invited to attend the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where he received his Master of Fine Arts. He continued his Studies at the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen, Denmark, and did additional Post graduate work at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. Horkay studied under the Internationally known Artist and Theatre Director Tadeusz Kantor as well as Professors M. Wejman, J. Nowosielski, and Palle Nielsen. He received Diplomas in Graphic Arts, Painting, and Film Animation.
